PostHeaderIcon Choosing A Niche For Building Your Website

With site flipping the first problem that many will face is choosing the niche to build a site around.  You will want to have a variety of niche’s and not just list the same site over and over again and you want to build sites around niches that are popular and that people will want to buy.

So how do you know what people will buy?

There are a couple of ways to choose your niche and here are a couple:

1. Trial and error – ok so that isn’t actually searching for a profitable niche as such but sometimes it is what works.  Often you may come across a great niche that you think will be really profitable only to find that it doesn’t sell, while other times you may choose a niche quite spontaneously and not be too confident about it, and it might sell really well.   There are some niches that tend to sell better than others in general and over time you will find what sells well for you.

2. View Completed Listings – one way to see what type of websites are selling is to view the completed listings section in Ebay.  If you do a search on websites and then select completed listings you will see all of the sites that have sold and the one’s that didn’t sell.  Although, just because a site didn’t sell doesn’t necessarily mean the niche is a bad one, it could be that the site was not of good quality or that the seller didn’t have a good reputation, so you will need to check these things to and don’t just write off a niche because a site didn’t sell.

3. Ebay Pulse – this is a site that shows you the most popular searched items on Ebay.  By finding out what people are searching for and building a site around those niches you have a very good chance of your site selling.  The popular searches will change from time to time so it is good to check Ebay Pulse every now and then to see what is currently popular.

Sometimes you might find that your mind just goes blank and you just cannot think of a niche to build a site around and other times you will have ideas popping into your head like crazy.  When you have ideas of niches make sure that you write them down straight away, otherwise you will most likely find that when you get to your computer you will have forgotten them.

Now, off you go and start doing some research and decide on a niche to build your site around.
